Why does a website need an XML sitemap?
An XML sitemap is a structured list of a site's URLs that helps search engines discover pages more efficiently — especially pages that aren't easy to find through internal links alone, like deep archive pages or a brand-new site with few backlinks yet.
A sitemap doesn't guarantee indexing, but it does tell crawlers which pages you consider important enough to include, how often they tend to change, and gives them a direct path to every URL without having to crawl your whole link graph to find it.

- Where do I submit the generated sitemap?
- Upload it to your site's root (or wherever your host allows), then submit the URL in Google Search Console under Sitemaps, and reference it in your robots.txt with a Sitemap: line.
- Does a sitemap help pages rank higher?
- No — it only helps with discovery and crawling. Ranking still depends on content quality, relevance, and the usual on-page and off-page SEO factors.
